Gurt:
In 1895, Finance Minister S. Y. Witte received Nicholas II's consent to introduce gold circulation in Russia (by this time the gold standard had already been adopted in most European countries and in America).
The law of January 3, 1897 "On the minting and issuance of gold coins", leaving the gold coin without any change in the content of pure gold, sample, color and size, establishes the designation on the imperials of the price of 15 rubles.
There are two varieties-two («СС») or three («ОСС») letters go for the neck cut, both variants are the same in occurrence. There is information about a coin with an inscription lowered even lower — by 4 letters («РОСС»).
During the first two years of the reform, the number of gold coins in circulation increased from 36 million to 450 million rubles. All the years before the outbreak of the First World War, credit cards had a gold coating that exceeded the legal limit, which ensured a stable level of trust. Then, after the announcement in 1914 of the termination of the exchange, all 629 million rubles of gold coins issued by that time disappeared from the market at once.
The sample is 900, the standard weight is 12.9 grams. The border inscription is "pure gold 2 spool 69.36 shares".
The obverse side is a portrait of Nicholas II and the inscription "
Б.М. НИКОЛАЙ II ИМПЕРАТОРЪ И САМОДЕРЖЕЦЪ ВСЕРОСС
", the reverse side is a double-headed eagle, the denomination («
15 РУБЛЕЙ»
) and the date.
