  • Condition: This item is in very good condition, with its original parts still firmly soldered on, no repairs, restoration, damage noted anywhere. Original patina present. Hangs with metal piece soldered onto back with hole in it; hangs flat on wall- 3-Dimensional item. Stamped 'Made in Mexico' on back hanger, with Mexico only partially stamped. Hand-made and decorated item from Taxco, Mexico, made during Mid Century years. Measures: 7" tall, 5" across, @ 2" deep. This was an artist hand-made piece, so there are variations in each item. Eyes were painted red onto metal rather than typical glass eyes. From estate of international folk art collector who traveled extensively for decades and bought what he loved. See photos for details.

    FEATURED:  An intense, iconic example of the famous MEXICAN COPPER, TIN & BRASS FOLK ART MASKS made in TAXCO, Mexico for tourists for decades, this mini-me little wild man, with his exotic horned headdress, huge twisted hoop earrings, and incredible stare on his inscrutable face, is certainly a great folk art piece to hang in any room, in any decor, and add a unique vibe and look to wherever he is hung.   He proves you don't have to be huge to command a big presence in any room!   Taxco, known world-wide for its incredible silver work, was also the center for these masks since the 1950's, when tourists started showing up in this wonderful small city and wanted things to take home- beautiful expensive silver jewelry and decorative arts, and fun things as inexpensive souvenirs to decorate a tiki room or family room with, and this mask style was developed over years.  This piece is an older item, created in those legendary Mid Century years,  completely hand made by a talented craftsman who had a steady hand for all the scribing everywhere, the hand-cutting of those fantastic eyelashes, and the stylized design of this striking, intense yet fun face!  Rare blood-red painted eyes, and those stylized crazy ears with their cool twisted hoop earrings make this a very wonderful piece to enjoy in your man cave, bar, patio- you decide where he should hang and enjoy the compliments he will receive.  We loved everything about him- what a fabulous and super example of folk art metalworking from Taxco that is so simple, stylistic and yet so exotic.
    MEASURES:  5 inches across, 7 inches tall, and about 2 inches deep, made of mixed metals and created in Taxco, Mexico in the Mid Century years,  all done by hand and in excellent vintage condition, and a great example of classic Mexican folk art that is so highly sought after today.  He's  ready to enjoy on your wall tonight and add some friskiness and life to any party you throw-and it's always nice to have a  quiet but wild-eyed guy hanging around your home, isn't it- he may be small but he's mighty in attitude!
