    Description

Original bilingual South Africa WW1 Victory Medal correctly named to Sapper R.E. Brophy, possibly an Irish Immigrant to South Africa (given the Irish last name).  He served in the South African Engineering Corps (SAEC). A total of approximately 1914 victory medals were issued to the SAEC.  The SAEC were engaged in several theaters to include East/West Africa and Europe.
The medal is unresearched.  Records can be obtained from the South African Military Archives.
