Original WWI WWII British War Medal India Waziristan India Burma Star RSP Bates
4 Original British/India Medal Collection from WWI, Waziristan India 1919-1921, The Burma Star 1941, and WWII (No Reserve, it will sell to the highest bidder!)
    Excellent Condition
All 4 Medals were given to Richard Sydney Patrick Bates. The British War Medal and the Waziristan both have his name inscribed around the edge, though they did have a couple of spelling mistakes on the Indian Medal, the middle initial should have been a S and they left off the S from his last name.
    The 4 medals are:
British War Medal 1914-1918 WWI Captain "CAPT. R.S.P. Bates"
Waziristan 1919-1921 India Captain 2nd Battallion of the 102 Grenadiers (102nd King Edward’s Own Grenadiers) "CAPT. R.J.P. Bate 2-102 Grenadiers"
    The Burma Star 1941
    The 1939-1945 Star WWII
    R. S. P. Bates was a very distinguished soldier with the British Military, and later fought with the Indian Army. He became a famous Ornithologist, who published many books and photos from the time he spent in India.
I found this while reasearching him:
He was a Captain, Major, Lieutenant Colonel, and Colonel.
    Born March 6th, 1897
    First Commission July 5 1917
First Arrival in India November 26 1917
Date of Appointment to the Indian Army November 30 1917
Date of Rank July 5 1921 3rd Madras Regiment 2nd Battalion (ex 75th Carnatic Infantry)
    Lt. Col. R.S.P. Bates
