Welcome you are viewing a vintage  Mexican Folks Art Carved Wood Devil
Diablo Mask with Ram Horns & glass eyes. Mot of this beauties  are made on
Guerrero, Michoacán , and Colima, Mexico.
This interesting piece  and high skilled hand carved wood mask decorated
with two snake and salamander on  forehead  and
ram's real  horns attached with
nails. colorful  hand painted in  polychrome  red, orange, gold, green ,black colors.
This type of  Diablo mask  are used   in various dances and representation during
Christmas ,Pastorela
(old Occitan  little/young shepherdess  around the Jesus ) and tell
how a shepherd on his way to visit baby Jesus is tempted by Devil .
Most of  this mask are used  to bring humorous and amuse the spectator .......
Measures with horns is 15 inches high , x 9 .1/4 ''  wide on horn are x 6 inches D.
only wood carving is 10. 1/2 inches high  x  7'' inches wide  x  6inched  D.
All weight 1.12 LBS
This wonderful piece of art seen to be made circa 50's but not really sure about age .
it has shown of wear, small scratches on painted over face  and    s
mall natural
wood crack on back other wise it still looking
great for focal point in any small
room or hall way ..

actual weight and side or distance of the item.
