💰1505 - 1533 Russia Silver Wire kopek Vasily III IvanovichVasily III Ivanovich, by the direct name Gabriel, tonsured Barlaam (March 25, 1479 - December 4, 1533)
- Grand Duke of Vladimir and Moscow in 1505-1533,
Sovereign of All Russia. Son of Ivan III the Great and Sophia Paleologue
father of Ivan IV the Terrible.
Coins of Basil III are usually divided according to the place of minting. In Novgorod, the minting of heavy money continues, all of them bear the name of the prince and the letter of the money-box. In Moscow, mostly unnamed ones with the title "Sovereign" are minted, so some of them may well be attributed to the end of the reign of Ivan III. All Moscow coins are of low weight, there are also quarters (or polushki) - an even smaller coin, equating to 1/2 Moscow denga. In Tver, coins of the weight of Moscow were minted. Since 1510, after the annexation of Pskov, the issue of Pskov money begins, having the weight of Novgorod. The new Pskov coins differ significantly from the old ones, they no longer depict Prince Dovmont, and in general they resemble national ones. Occasionally one comes across a special type of coins of Tver and Pskov without images, only inscriptions. Almost all Novgorod and Pskov dengas bear a circular inscription with the title and name of Vasily.
